Montana Fish Report
Don Pedro Reservoir Fish Report

The bite remains very strong here on Don Pedro with the Kokanee salmon preparing for there migration to the spawning grounds on the Tuolumne river.
The kokes are schooling and moving into deeper water, mostly 100’ plus which is the bad news, the good news is that they are still on a good bite and at these greater deeps there are some fine king salmon on the prowl. Twain Harte residents
Bob King (no pun intended) and Don Moncrieff joined me on Monday for mixed limits of Kings and Kokanee in the Woods Creek arm and
I had the pleasure of fishing Modesto residents Amy Mengetti, Rod DeHart and Cameron Sparks
this past Thursday for King Salmon and Kokanee Salmon. We targeted the fish in the Woods Creek arm and
in the Railroad Canyon to the West of the highway 120 bridge. Both species were holding at depths from 95’ to 120’ and actively striking
Apex’ lures and both Thread Fin Shad and Anchovies. For the morning outing the threesome boated 7 Kings, 7 Kokes and one rainbow trout
with Mengetti boating big fish with a 5.5 pound King Salmon, followed closely with DeHart landing a three pound King. Garlic or Anise flavored corn is my preferred scent on the Apex’s lures and My fresh frozen Shad and Anchovies are being
cured in Pautzkes new Fire Brine, a quick, easy and effective treatment for brining frozen bait.
