Almanor Lake Fish Report

Surface temps dipped to 39 degrees this week and clarity
is holding at 9 feet. Barring any real cold north storms, surface temperatures will start pushing into that 40 degree-plus range. This will trigger fish activity.
Almanor West to the airport flats, Lake Cove, on the east shore, Bailey Springs, are all place were hatches seem to start first. Trolling has been fair to good.
Rainbows have been from 15- to 20-inches. Expect the big brown bite to ramp up. Dodgers with white or chartreuse trolling flies, or crawlers, pin minnows or any smelt pattern is still a good bet. Be prepared to change colors.
Avoid the Hamilton Branch area, the power house is still running brown water, which is also impacting clarity at Big Springs. Doug Neal (530) 258-6732 http://www.almanorfishingadventures.com
