East Walker River Fish Report

The flow rate on the East Walker is about 25 cfs. This is pretty typical for the river this time of year. The lake is filling up a little every week so at some point this winter when the lake is full the flows will increase, possibly in Feb. or March. Of the few reports we have been getting the fishing has been pretty darn good. There's been quite a number of really good fish being caught, some in the 7 and 8 pound class. There's been some decent streamer action but mostly this time of year it's going to be small midges, baetis type nymphs. Patterns to try include: zuddlers, moal leeches, double bunnies, buggers, flashback emergers, pt's, silver streaks, wd-40's, san juans and zebra midges. The best time of day to fish this time of year, mainly due to the colder temps, is from about 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. This can change from day to day, but these hours are a good time to get after it. www.kenssport.com (760) 932-7707
