June Lake Loop Fish Report

Fishing at June Lake is outstanding. One angler rented a boat and caught his limit in 40 minutes – and then wanted a refund for the remainder of the day. Cutthroats are biting three colors deep on trolled Thomas Bouyants (watermelon). Rainbows are near the surface and along the shoreline. Bigger fish are deeper. Trout fishing has been steady on Gull Lake. Thomas Bouyants, Kastmasters thrown from the shore get fish. Bait fishing is good along the reeds and across the lake from the Marina. Silver Lake Resort will be closing as of October 17th. The past two weeks has produced an abundance of nice size stringers of trout and an occasional 2 to 3 pounder. With the water cooling down and fall upon us, worms have been producing the best quality fish. Anglers have also been doing well from the shore using garlic, salmon egg red and salmon peach Power Baits. Try tossing a Tasmanian Devil or a Thomas Buoyant and as long as the day time temperatures stays relatively warm, try a small Gnat or a Blue Dunn in the fly department. The fish are still out there and with the beauty of the Fall colors in the June Lake Loop right now, you can't beat it. The colors of the Aspens are as gold as they can get and the beauty of the area is breathtaking. Don't forget that the Second Summer Trout Derby will continue until November 15th at Silver Lake, Grant Lake, June Lake, Bridgeport Reservoir, Walker River, Convict, Crowley and Lake Mary.
