With the surface water temperature at 72 degrees trout are now down 28-35 feet deep or so. Most of the trollers are focusing on the main lake, near Hat Island, and in front of the buoy line at the dam. Needlefish lures in Cop Car pattern, Ex-Cel lures in silver/blue, or red/gold, and orange grubs have all been working this week.
Bass anglers report that the top water bite is good in the early morning. During mid-day rocky points and structure are holding fish from 10-20 feet deep. Plastic worms or crawdads seem to be working well. The catfish bite continues to be good for anglers using chicken liver, mackerel, or other smelly baits. Fishing from the bank as well as a boat have both produced nice catfish this week. (209) 763-5915, (209) 763-5166
