East Walker River Fish Report

The flow on the East Walker at the beginning of the week was 299 cfs. The river has been fishing a little tough on the California side, but we've been getting some cooler nights and that's keeping the temps down a bit. We haven't had much dry or streamer action, but fishing small midge and caddis nymph patterns is still producing some nice fish. Zebra midges, WD-40's, disco midges, silver streaks, ice nymphs, buckskin caddis, fox's poopah, z-wing caddis have all been doing well. The key with these conditions is to get those flies down to the bottom with a good, drag-free drift and you should get some good fish. The West if fishing well. The canyon section along Highway 395 and the Pickle Meadows section have both been doing well. Small spinners, eggs and crawlers for spinning, and for flies go with terrestrial patterns, attractor dry flies, or nymphs like princes and hares ears. www.kenssport.com (760) 932-7707
