The bite is hot. Most knowledgeable anglers are taking pretty easy limits on the east side of the lake and out in front of Miners Bay. the Eagle Lake trout are on a great bite. The bite is not only first thing in the morning. Those anglers that are hitting the water at the crack of 7:30 A.M. are still catching good numbers of fish. These are nice solid fish from 2-31/4 lbs. The tui chub minnows are starting to show in the area and the stomach contents of the Eagle Lake trout are showing that they are beginning to feed on the minnows. Troll water 50-60 feet deep off Miners Bay. Those with downriggers, set your baits at 30 feet deep. For those trolling leadcore, use 4-5 colors. Troll around one mile an hour. Best baits include Sep's #2 Watermelon grubs, nightcrawlers, and red/gold or red/white spoons. If you see concentrations of minnows, raise one of your trolled baits up to four to six feet below the surface and troll "around" the minnow school, not through it. Bobber fishing has been very, very good for those fishermen that fish early in the same areas mentioned above. Set threaded night crawlers below a slip bobber at 30 feet deep. tnoxon@gmail.com www.fishtraveler.com; (530) 825-3454
