Flows have recently decreased in the high flow section causing steelhead to move out of the shallows into deeper water. Fish drop-offs, tailouts, and riffles with egg patterns and green caddis pupa. Add on a BWO dropper off an egg or a nymph during the afternoon hatch. Micro mayflies, Hogan’s S&M, and flashback pheasant tails are good imitations of the BWO nymph. Very few salmon around but fishing an egg pattern behind redds is still producing. Bulk of the steelhead are from Mathews Riffle (across from Mathews ready-mix) through the high flow section below the outlet. Reports of steelhead over eight pounds last week. Winter run steelhead are starting to show.
