Trout are over deeper water and filter feeding on the massive zooplankton suspended above a colder layer of water. Surface temps are holding between 51 and 55 degrees depending on the location. Christie Bay and Wildcat Point are a little warmer.
The surface of the south basin has been dirty. The good news is that we are expecting to see a little more wind along with the cooler ambient temps this week. Water clarity has been as good as it’s been all season, green not brown (other than the drifts of algae). Shore fishing and float tubing has been tough for everyone (tubers driving to launch at available accesses). There have been a few fish caught on orange scuds and nymphs off Miners Point rock pile but folks need to use a boat to access the distant ledges out there. We are seeing a lot of surface activity but the trout aren’t taking anything but an occasional brown leech or small olive/brown wooly bugger. www.eaglelakefishing.net.
