We are seeing a lot of surface activity in the morning but not in shallow water. The shallowest water with fish is 15 feet deep but most of the activity is over 35 to 55 feet of water. The fish aren’t coming in close enough to cast to even over deeper water. They are keeping their distance from float tubes when active. The trout aren’t focused on the shallow rock piles…they are focused on the zooplankton (shrimp in microscopic form). The lake is fishing differently this fall. It’s all about the feed in the lake, where it is and what the trout are focused on in any one location. Minnows are not in close to shore yet, they remain suspended in the depths in some areas and compressed to the bottom in 25 to 35 feet of water in others. www.eaglelakefishing.net.
