The lake level rose two feet this week and is currently at 1060 ft. above sea level and 30 feet from capacity. Water temperature is 63-66 degrees. Kokanee fishing is excellent. Kokes are 14-to16-inches and very fat and healthy. Trollers should begin trolling right off of Glory Hole Point and head to the spillway and the dam, right up near the dam face. The mouth of Angels Creek/Angels Cove toward Black Bart Cove over the submerged islands there is another great spot to fish. Kokanee are being caught anywhere from top-lining on the surface, all the way down to 50 feet, but most anglers have best luck around 30-40 feet deep, especially over shallower (60-foot deep) water around islands and humps. Tie on shoepeg corn-tipped pink, orange, or green Glitterbugs Micro Hootchies or RK Lures Micro Hootchies, Wedding Rings, Murphys Bugs, Uncle Larry's Spinners, or Apex, trolled behind smaller Glitterbugs silver, pink or chartreuse Teardrop Dodgers, silver/gold 50/50 dodgers, or Sling Blades with silver, pink or chartreuse tape. The hot scents are garlic, Carp Spit, and anise. Bass bite continues to be tough, with no particular pattern working. Many bass are chasing schools of big shad, and are not oriented to structure. Top water and swimbaits have been producing the big fish. Look for shad balls in the backs of creek arms and protected pockets off the main lake in the early morning, and throw swimbaits such as Lunker Punkers, Toad Thrashers, Super Spooks, and Pencil Poppers. Later in the day, target main lake points with Senkos or other larger-profile soft plastics.
