The best trolling areas this week were at the north end of the lake, between Bucks Point and Little Truxel Point, all the way up to Big Truxel Point. Many anglers are also fishing the area between the Youth Camp and Pelican Point and northwest towards Rocky Point. Surface water temperatures in these areas is 45-49 F. We fished Sep's watermelon and orange grubs 2-5 feet deep on down riggers in 6-10 feet of water for daily limits of Eagle Lake Trout this week. Seemed like the fish moved around daily but were in the same general vicinity as the day/day's prior. We stayed within a general area and never moved more than a 1/2 mile in any direction. We are launching at 6:45 A.M. and fishing by 7:00 A.M. Normally we've boated limits by 10-11:00 A.M. This week the fish we put in the box were between 2.5 and 3.3lbs. We are getting closer to a 3lb average keeper. Note: The water clarity varies in different areas of the lake. Orange is a good color for "cloudy" water. Bobber fishing is good off the Youth Camp shoreline and along the west side from Pelican Point down to Shrimp Island. The fish are close to shore so anchor up in water 10-15 feet deep and fish threaded night crawlers under a slip bobber at 5-8 feet deep. And, do it early. tnoxon@gmail.com www.fishtraveler.com; (530) 825-3454
