Trout are moving north and many fish are being taken trolling and bobber fishing off the Youth Camp and along the west shore line south of Pelican Point.
Trolling:
Many anglers are taking two fish limits fishing shallow water off the Youth Camp shoreline trolling Sep's brown, amber or watermelon grubs a 5-7 feet deep. Work water 10 feet deep in tight to the shoreline early. Move out from the shoreline as the sun hits the water, but, leave your baits at 5-7 feet deep. There are millions of Tui Chub Minnows in this area and they are near the surface so the trout are too.
Across the lake on the west side, south of Pelican Point, troll the same grubs mentioned above from 2-6 feet deep in 8-20 feet of water. We had limits on my boat every day we were out this week using this method. On this side of the lake there are fewer minnows and the trout are feeding more off the bottom on snails. We see this from the stomach contents of the fish we clean caught in this area. Most fish this week averaged 2.5 lbs. We are catching two to three 3lb fish a week from these areas. If you are not catching fish using the baits mentioned above, troll a night crawler.
Bobber Fishing:
The best bobber fishing I've heard about is EARLY off the Youth Camp shoreline. Anchor in 15 feet of water and set your night crawler at 5-7 feet deep. tnoxon@gmail.com http://www.fishtraveler.com/; (530) 825-3454
