East Walker River Fish Report

The flows on the East Walker were bumped up to about 410cfs for a couple days, and are now down to 346. The fishing has still been pretty good with lots of nice browns and a few rainbows showing up. The dry fly fishing has slowed down with the higher flows, but the nymphing has been doing very well. Caddis nymphs and small midges have been the best patterns. We've also had a few good reports on streamers here and there. A couple of the keys to success on the East Walker when the flows are at this level is to add enough weight to get your nymphs (or streamers) down to the bottom where the fish are feeding, and have a large enough indicator to carry that weight. A few of the patterns that have been working include zuddlers, mini sculpins, gold bead caddis, swimming caddis, zebra midges, deep sparkle pupa, fox's poopah, san juan worms. (760) 932-7707
