Almanor Lake Fish Report

The fishing has been pretty good this past week for those working the north end of the east basin from Hamilton Branch to Big Cove Marina. Fishing pressure is light during the early morning hours, and then other boats start showing up, especially on weekends. Rainbows and salmon are caught from 30 to 35 feet until the sun hits the water. With surface temps nice and cool and a little early morning fog, fish are closer to the top, some of the biggest fish this week were hitting the shallow stuff more often rather than the deep rigs. No downriggers? No problem.
Worth noting: HWY 32 to Almanor is closed during the week. The government shut down has the USFS ramp closed.
