The Hex Hatch is on.
Prattville to Goose Island, Goose Island to Rocky Point. Hex casings are floating in bunches all through these popular trolling lanes. Expect more fish to move in on the “Hex Hatch” as this event ramps up, and its popping off in a few areas already. Generally the surface is cool for late June, 68 degrees.
Bunell Point to Rocky Point is a good trolling lane right now as fish are just funneling thru on their way to the “Happy Hex Hatching Grounds.”
When the hatch “goes off”, every species of fish can be found. Besides trout and salmon, don’t be surprised if you get a smallmouth or catfish while trolling.
Being in the water early will get you your best shot at hook ups, also the boat traffic is zero. Boats getting out late will miss that early bite. The bite resumes after 10 a.m., but is lighter. Doug Neal: (530) 258-6732 http://www.almanorfishingadventures.com
