Summer finally hit the June Lake Loop this week with near record temps. 6/7 & 6/8 reached highs of near 90 degrees with some afternoon clouds forming right over Gull Lake. With the heat the fish are heading for deeper waters. Bait fishing with nightcrawlers and Power Bait produced many full stringers this week and there were a few cutthroat in the mix. Gene Peppard from Moreno Valley CA, weighed a nice 3lbs 4 oz Alpers rainbow caught on a garlic Power Bait / trout dip bait rig. Here at Gull Lake if a 3 lbs fish or bigger is caught from one of our rental boats there is a chance to "spin the wheel" and win a prize. Top Prize is $500 in cash! On 5/31 Richard Theetge weighed in a 5 lbs 4 oz Rainbow, spun the wheel, and won the $500! DFG and Mono county have been keeping Gull Lake well stocked with above average size trout and our cut throat average about 2.5 pounds
