Montana Fish Report
Upper Sacramento River Fish Report
by Nor Cal Fish Reports
5-8-2013
Flows as of Tuesday are at 600 cfs and holding steady. (220 to 342 CFS is the friendly wading level). This is high but is coming down quickly with snow pack being only 50% of normal on Mount Shasta. The Upper Sac is running clear and has been fishing fantastic for this time of year especially on sunny days with no wind. Fishing from Dunsmuir down to Sims is better than usual, nymphing with poxy back hairs ears size 14 and a flash back pheasant tails on the dropper (no bead) , add two SSG weights and you be picking up trout often. Not very much pressure on the river makes it a great choice this week. Also these flies will work, black copper johns size 16, amber princes size 14, rubber legs size 12 with red copper john as dropper or small poxy back golden stone size 16. Rely on high sticking and stay attached to your flies for best results. Call on Team Trout for any guiding as we are in full swing now. Some dry fly mid-day as day warms up, try a adams parachute or a small size 16 elk hair caddis.
