The McCloud River continues to be great as the flows are perfect for safe wading and fly fishing. Not as many people as one would expect for being the start of the season and the perfect spring fishing conditions. Best fishing continues to be downstream of Ash Camp below Hawkins Creek through the Nature Conservancy. Using nymphs like size 18 micro mayflies and size 18 red & black copper johns. Size 16 amber princes as well as size 16 pheasant tails, poxy back golden stones size 14 & 16. 16 Lt cahill’s, adams size 16 & 18, sulphur comparaduns, look for rising trout after 2 pm. Water temp 53 to 54 degrees. Best fishing was mid day to dusk. poxy back hair’s ears and the dark lord was this week’s best flies. www.jacktrout.com, (530) 926-4540
