Despite the fact that there’s a bit of an algae bloom happening, the trout bite has been quite decent, especially for the regulars fishing from boats in the south end and in the east cove. Most of the regulars are reporting 2-4 fish each with some anglers catching limits. Powerbait, worms, needlefish and lures have all been productive. On February 2 Chris Held from Concord caught four Rainbows while “trolling in the south end between the two buoys…going back and forth.” He said that Kastmasters and Rat-L-Traps were working well for him. Cory Smith from Walnut Creek did well this past week drifting powerbait. He got to the lake after 12 noon yesterday and had no luck in the south end so he moved over to the east cove and caught three Rainbow in ten minutes. Cory recommends that anglers make the Power Bait look like a tadpole on their hook. (925) 284-9669
