There’s a decent striper bite along the shoreline. Blood worms are the best bait. The first salmon of the season were landed last week. Nick Nourot of Benicia caught the first one – a 6.8 pounder – from the end of 1st Street using a green Ve-Ze lure. Biggest so far was an 18.6 pounder caught by Jesse Bledsoe of Benicia while fishing at the state park with a green bodied, black and yellow-skirted Ve-Ze lure. Sturgeon bite remains good in the Carquinez Straits during the top of the tide and the first part of the outgoing tide. Ozol is a hot spot, too. Benicia Bait (707) 745-4921
