Our area waters seem deserted, the crowds from the week before are gone and fishing here in the Mother Lode is like fishing on your own pond. This lake continues to produce quaility rainbows in record size that can be attested by the Kishinsky family from San Carlos and Pete Ottesen and David Wong from Stockton who were treated to limits of fiesty bows to four pounds this past week. One thing I've noticed this past month while fishing for bows on Pedro is that lure choice doesn't really matter. Once you've located these schools of threadfin shad, fishing just under these bait balls will produce very nice bows. This past week lures that were very productice were, Needlefish, Ex-Cel, Mepps, Blue Fox and Slim Fin when fished at 30 to 35 feet at first light then dropping down to the 40 to 50 feet under a high sky. Effective scent, Pautzke's Krill or scents such as sardine or threadfin shad when trolled at 1.5 to 1.7mph. (209) 586-2383
