The past few days it has been salmon central station here. The salmon have been coming in all sizes ... small, medium, and larger. The kings have just been more aggressive lately, crashing mini threaded nightcrawlers rigged down from 25- to 45-feet and all depths in between. We did release a few 14 inch rainbows but it has been the salmon really stepping it up. Surprisingly the larger Salmon were 3 year old beauties that looked great, averaging 19.5 inches. Fishing pressure is light, we saw just one boat fishing yesterday. No radio traffic either. Smelt bait balls dominate the sonar throughout the entire east basin. The few other boats fishing last week reported the same scene.
Best bite has still been real early, like fishing by 6 a.m. The bite starts dropping off by 8 a.m., before resuming about 10 a.m. and into the afternoon. Doug Neal: (530) 258-6732 http://www.almanorfishingadventures.com
