Surface temperatures are 39.5 to 40.5 degrees depending on time of day and place. Clarity is approximately nine feet. Trolling is still fair to good. The bite has been coming on from 6:30 to 9:00 am and drops off. Rainbows and browns ranging from 15- to 19-inches and up to two and three pounds are being landed. The bite restarts around 11:30 am and after 1:00 pm it's sporadic. Running dodger/crawler combos at 1.2 to 1.5 mph early has gotten the most action downrigged at 10 feet and 25 feet. Switching over to Speedy Shiners in the late morning and ramping the speed up to 2.5 mph, and at the same depth, usually finishes out the limit. Most boats are off the water by 1:00 pm, usually with a limit plus. Fish are still scattered all over the lake and feeding on smelt, which have not started to push toward spawning structure as of now. Doug Neal (530) 258-6732 http://www.almanorfishingadventures.com
