Lake Camanche Fish Report

The lake is 78% full and the water temperature is 63 degrees. Steady river inflows create a "current" in the river channel and draw trout up the current to the east end of the lake. Bait fishing out of a boat has proved successful between the Penn mine and Arkansas bend. Anglers casting up stream and drifting night crawlers in the fast moving, murky water have caught some nice trout with this method. Other good bait fishing areas would include Hat island, Causeway and Dike #3 using power bait in 25 to 40 feet of water. Trolling continues to be great between Hat island and the Dam. Most use Rapala lures, night crawler behind a dodger. Early in the day 15 to 20feet and mid day 25 to 35 feet would be the best depth. Bank fishing and the pond also continue to be producing limits. Bass are in the pre spawn mode, and are active in 25-35 feet of water in rocky areas with drop-offs. Camanche Arm, Lancha Plana, and Dikes 1 & 2 were all producing bass this week. Plastic worms in green pumpkin, smoke, salt & pepper are all good, as well as surface baits early or late in the day. (209) 763-5915, (209) 763-5166
