Eagle Lake Fish Report

The weather continued warm this past week but the fishing continued to be good for those anglers on the water early (5 a.m.) The surface temperate on the west side of Eagle Lake where we are concentrating our trolling efforts is around 65-67 degrees but the fishing remains good, EARLY.
We are still catching nice fish fishing shallow. We are still trolling in 8-15 feet of water with our baits set at 5-6 feet deep on the down riggers. Watermelon grubs are still producing. Black and orange trolling flies were also good this week. The fish should start moving to deeper water soon but we will continue to work this shallow water bite as long as possible.
I've heard that other successful anglers are trolling various spoons, (frog-green seems to be working) in water from 30-50 feet deep. They have caught fish from 12-18 feet deep down rigging the spoons. They are trolling in Miners Bay and the east shoreline north of Eagle's Nest.
Bobber Fishing is the same as last week. Limits are very possible for those bobber fishermen on the water early. They are anchoring in 15-20 feet of water and setting their threaded night crawlers 8-10 below a slip bobber. The best bobber fishing that I've heard of is on the west side below Shrimp Island. tnoxon@gmail.com www.fishtraveler.com; (530) 825-3454
