Montana Fish Report

Best fishing is very early. Get out on the water before 5 a.m. to allow for more fishing time before the sun rises.  If the forecast calls for no wind and bright, cloudless skies, the premium fishing time for both trollers and bobber fishermen on Eagle Lake will be from first legal fishing time (around 4:30 A.M.) until 7:30-8:00 A.M. The west sid eo f the lake is best for trolling. Work water from 8-12 feet deep, troll our baits 4-6 feet deep on downriggers, 150 feet behind the boat.  The best baits this week were Sep's #2 Watermelon Grubs.  Many folks are having very good success trolling flies.  Orange and olive green have been good colors for the trolling flies.  The average size of the fish this week was 17-20 inches.  These fish weigh in between 2 and 2.75 lbs.  They are bright silver on the outside and bright red on the inside.  Bobber fishing has been good for those fishermen who fish early.  Shrimp Island Point and off the Youth Camp shoreline have been producing for the bobber fishermen.  They are anchoring in 15-20 feet of water and setting their threaded night crawlers 8-10 below a slip bobber.  Fish Traveler Guide Service is offering Lodging/Fishing Packages along with our Daily Guided Fishing Charters this season. The Lodging/Fishing Packages include two days of Guided Fishing and two nights of Lodging.  and, you only pay for the guided fishing.  Lodging is free.  Check our website for pricing on our Lodging/Fishing Packages and Daily Guided Fishing Charters or, call us at the numbers below.    (530) 825-3454  http://www.fishtraveler.com
